"I am me, I am I, I live as if I could fly. I sing to soar, and write to glide. When I die matters not, as long as I lived wide." --T. Eugene Powers

I write....
Because I have an opinion
Because I have an interest
Because I have an open mind
Because I've felt Pain
Because I've seen Pain
Because I've felt Sadness
Because I've seen Sorrow
Because I've felt Anger
Because I've seen Hate
Because I've known Love
Because I've known Joy
Because I have
Because I haven't
Because I had
I write because I can...

How Much We Give….

There is a myth that humans were all born with two heads four legs and four arms, but Zeus fearing our power split us in two and now we are forever looking for our other half, the second part that makes us whole. We are always searching, for one reason or another, for most of us though, we strive for a future, someone to love, someone that completes us, makes us whole. In our desperate search for this…missing piece we put our hearts up for sale, sadly “the one” is hard to find right away, so we allow our hearts to be rented out; the problem is in allowing tenant after tenant to reside in our most fragile of organs, it gets tattered, torn, taken apart one piece at a time….and in that time, it is left to wonder, just how much of you, can you truly give to your missing half if there’s really nothing left. They’d have to be your whole rather than your half, right?

(Of course there are variations to the saying that would most certainly be more fitting such as, “You complete me” or Katy Perry’s most recent rendition “…my missing puzzle piece”. Of these I’m aware but for the purposes of this blog, bare with me if you would.)

I can honestly say I’ve loved and lost, how many times and to what degree is…debatable. But that first girl who took my heart, still has a big part of it, and always will, and each subsequent girl following. In light of this knowledge—as there are some who’s heart may as well have been placed on a cheese grater for the amount of times it’s been trampled on, used, or just put out there—it begs the question, exactly how big is this ethereal heart we guard so preciously. But for those of us that know the pain of loss, regaining that strength or guts to make that leap again, takes a lot because the fear of rejection is heavy on the mind. That taunting indecisiveness: “What if she says no? How can I respond to that? What if that guy is her beau?”

Point is, when it comes to the heart everyone treads softly in one way or another. Unfortunately, that treading softly could mean not taking that leap for fear of uncertainty. Countless walls in that home have been torn down, or filled with a multitude of holes, so the fear is “what if they just want to cause more damage?” Thing is, what if that person is your architect, the one with the original blue prints, haven’t you just missed out? It’s this dilemma that drives us to continually seek, though we may deal with a complete renovation from time to time, soon that person will come along, and help to rebuild. Until that time should we still try for that chance at a broken wall at a chance for such a person? The only one who can answer that is you, and whether or not you are indeed strong enough to hold on to that which is left.

Heart of Wax

What be that beneath the ash?

Tis a heart a flame

Rising, like a new born Phoenix without a name

And should it be so rash

To take hold of such a thing

Despite the burns it might bring?

To take it in care

With hands bare

And hold it close to thine own

For together as one

They should be known.
